Saturday OOTD

Hey Ya'll!!

I hope everybody had a great weekend. I didn't do to much. Saturday I went to my aunt's event and hung out with some friends later on that night and today I've been chilling in my pj's all day and I loved every minute of it. This post is just to give ya'll a chance to see how I styled the houndstooth high-waisted shorts and the oxblood blazer from the "slight thrifting" blog post.

So if you read my previous blog post then you know these were not the shorts I wanted to wear. They were too big and I had to hem them to make the length shorter. Well I washed the other shorts and accidentally shrunk them in the dryer so they were a no go. I wasn't about to buy anything else to wear for my aunt's event so I just opted to give these houndstooth shorts a try. In the end I paired the shorts with a cute purple blouse that I got from Sears (Yes Sears!) last year, printed tights, and my wedge booties that are from Target. I think the outfit came out cute! What do ya'll think?

they were so big that they wouldn't stay "high waisted" lol

Later on that night I went out to a bar/lounge with two of my friends. While looking for something to wear I ran across this blue H&M skirt. I've had the skirt for over a year but never wore it because I felt it was too short for my liking since my thighs are so big. I thought that Saturday night would be the perfect time to pull the skirt out and pair it with some tights, a simple t-shirt, and my oxblood blazer. I added minimum accessories and flat black boots because I was going for a casual, comfortable, and cute look. How did I do?

Slight Thrifting

Hey Ya'll!!!

What a great day today has been!!!!! I've literally been watching CNN since like 7 this morning. I watched all the inauguration festivities and today it felt good to be a US citizen! #TeamObama!!!!

I did slip out for a little bit to hit up the Goodwill. I have a function to go to this Saturday and an outfit came to me. I wanted to wear some high-waist shorts with some tights. When I'm looking for something in particular but don't feel like spending a lot of money I always hit up my local Goodwill store. To my surprise I found two pairs of high-waisted shorts. I couldn't decide on which pair I wanted and I didn't feel like trying them on ( I really don't like trying on clothes at the Goodwill) so I just brought both. Heck, they were only $3.99 each LoL. I found some other great finds that I decided to buy also. Below are the items I brought.

Houndstooth, size 16: They were to big so I gave them to my mother. Very cute tho!

size 14: perfect fit. Had to hem them a little bit to make them shorter. I will be wearing these this Saturday!!

Jones New York, size 6: You see the color...oxblood!!! I had to have it and its the perfect fit

Mossimo, size 10: $5 baby!!! I'm sure I'll find some good use for them

Natural Hair Update

Hey Ya'll!

The new year has started off good for me. I'm planning my wedding, still trying to lose weight, and I'm working on getting my hair on the right track. I can't wait to see what else 2013 has in store for me.

This post is about my hair. I'm so loving my hair right now. Since the New Year I have been putting TLC into my hair. I've been neglecting it and the outcome was that my hair was not as healthy as it should've been. Being natural can be a real struggle so now I'm co-washing/washing it on the regular, deep conditioning, detangling, and wearing less weave. I've noticed that my hair has been more moisturized and that my curl pattern has been really defined. I have heavily fallen in love with argon oil and Jamaican black castor oil.

Twisting my hair EVERY night can get tiring so in the next month or so I will be including more protective styles into my hair routine such as Havana twist, 2 strand twist styles, braids, and other cute natural hair protective styles. It's nothing like waking up in the morning and getting ready for work without having to worry about your hair.

Also, I'm working on my edges. As you all know I have very thin edges. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by them but I do want them to grow back lol. I have started this routine on January 6th of rubbing the Jamaican black castor oil on my edges every morning and every night. I have already noticed that my edges are starting to fill in. I give it about another month or so before they have fully grown in..hopefully! We'll see I guess.

Thanks for readying and stay tuned for more natural hair updates. Byeee!!
