Easter Weekend

Hey Ya’ll!

Happy Easter! I’m late I know LoL. I hope everybody had a fantastic Easter. I know I did. Putting on your Easter outfit, going to church, reflecting on the man above and what he did for us, being with family, eating a big dinner…doesn’t get any better. Saturday I had to work (blah) but when I got off my mom and I went out to get some goodies for my nephew’s big Easter basket we made and I got him some simple, cool, yet cute summer clothes from Target.

This year was the first time in a long time that I actually went out and brought something to wear to church on Easter. Usually, I just put some stuff together from my closet. One day while in JC Penny I ran across this dress and I instantly fell in love. The colors, the fit, the style..it was all me. When I saw this dress the first thing that came to mind was “I can wear this on Easter Sunday” LoL. So I got it! I got it from JC Penny, the brand is Liz Claiborne, and it was $35. I paired it with some heels I got from Target and some simple accessories because the dress was a statement in itself. Oh yea I got a sew-in too! I was in the mood for some big, curly hair so I went out and got this SOL bohemian curl hair and had my sister install it. I think it came out cute…I love it!

Sunday evening, a couple of hours after church, I went to my grandma’s for dinner. I love being with my family and enjoying good food. My grandma and aunts really showed off in the kitchen and I ate GUUD! I wanted to be comfortable so I just threw on some leggings, white t-shirt, chucks, and a jean jacket. Wasn’t really trying to make a fashion statement, I was just trying to be comfortable.

I was actually trying on a jean jacket...LoL

So that pretty much sums up my Easter weekend! Stay tuned for more posts J

Wedding Planning Update and more

Polka Dot Love

Hey Ya'll!!!

Hopefully everybody has been having a great weekend! Just wanted to chime in to update ya'll on my wedding and what I have been obsessed with for the spring/summer time. Well my wedding is quickly approaching. August will be here before we know it. Still can't believe I'm about to be a wife LoL. The planning has been going well. I'm really keeping it in the family....I can't help it that my family have side hustles and are good at it. My mom and her 7 sisters have their own catering company "Sister2Sister Catering" so they are catering my reception (well minus my mom of course), my cousin is a professional DJ "Dr. Dre", my aunt is designing my invitations, programs, and wedding favors (She's good with things like that), my cousin is my wedding planner (She has done tons of weddings), and my other cousin is my reception hall decorator (She has also done tons of weddings). So I'm saving money all while knowing that my family will provide great quality work so I'm not worried about anything. The decorations for my wedding ceremony are complete and the reception hall is coming along well. The menu is complete and I know what I want for my lighting or the reception. Now it's all about getting a list together of everything I have to rent and things like that. I'm very satisfied at where I'm at in the wedding planning.

The Future Mr & Mrs Anderson
I also started sending out my save the dates. Everybody has been loving them which is so exciting!!! I did something a little different and I'm glad I did. I'm very non traditional so I didn't want to do the usual save the date postcard of magnet. Once I send them all out I will do a blog post on them and finally reveal what they are if you don't know already!

Now for my springtime/summertime obsession. I am obsessed with chuck taylors now. Yes! Chuck Taylors. I think they are the perfect add on to any outfit. You can dress them up and dress them down and they go with almost everything. I can just picture myself with a cute bodycon dress on and some chuck taylors lol.  I have about 2 more colors I want to get then I'll be complete with buying chuck taylors.

Stay tuned for more posts!!!

3 Day Weekend

Hey Ya'll!!!!

Just wanted to chime in and talk about my 3-day weekend. Today is President's Day and I work for a bank so I was off!!!! I love being off on Mondays.
Love Him!

My weekend has been very relaxing and enjoyable. Saturday I went to a free screening of my aunt's play "Freight of the Hell Bound Train" then my fiance' and I went out to dinner at this spot called Conch Republic. It's located in Richmond, VA on the James River. It was very nice! The atmosphere was welcoming and the food was great! We will definitely be going back. Sunday my fiance' went to church with me then after we had our first marriage counseling session. The Pastor gave us some great advice and also gave us some scriptures to read up on. I'm sure on our next session we will have more questions for the Pastor instead of him having more questions for us. Later on Sunday evening I had dinner with my bridesmaids and hostesses. In a previous post I expressed how I wanted to do little outings with the girls in my wedding party and Sunday kicked it off. We had a very good time! Everybody got along well and seemed to enjoy each others company. Can't wait to meet up with the girls again.
My twin...My Mommy! (Yikes @ my eyebrows lol)

Today is my mommy's birthday!!!!!! Love that woman!! :) I treated my mom to brunch at MiMi's Cafe then we spent like 4 hours at Shortpump Mall. We had a good time just being around each other and of course shopping!!!!!!! I also met with my wedding decorator earlier today. She has so many ideas to do for the reception hall that I can't wait to see everything come to life!!!!

So my 3-day weekend was a little busy but I enjoyed every single minute of it. Tomorrow is a new day and the start of the work week...*sighs* but at least it's a 4-day work week instead of 5.

I hope everybody enjoyed their weekend like I did and stay tuned for more posts!!!!!

I couldn't resist

Hey Ya'll!!!

I hope everyone has been well. I have been great! This post is about something I did recently. I know in my previous blog posts I vowed to not wear weave like that anymore but......I reneged! I had to get a sew in!!! I work out twice a day and there was no way that I could tackle my hair with these workouts. I needed to do something with my hair where I could just wake up in the morning and go and when I work out I could just throw it up in a ponytail or something. I really didn't want braids so a sew in it was. I'm so loving my hair right now. Its so convenient and easy to handle. I've had this hair before and I will probably keep getting it until I get tired of it.The hair is by Model Model and its called the Rio curl.  I'm all about curls so this hair is perfect for me.

Below are some pics of my hair. I hope you like!!!! Later :)

Saturday OOTD

Hey Ya'll!!

I hope everybody had a great weekend. I didn't do to much. Saturday I went to my aunt's event and hung out with some friends later on that night and today I've been chilling in my pj's all day and I loved every minute of it. This post is just to give ya'll a chance to see how I styled the houndstooth high-waisted shorts and the oxblood blazer from the "slight thrifting" blog post.

So if you read my previous blog post then you know these were not the shorts I wanted to wear. They were too big and I had to hem them to make the length shorter. Well I washed the other shorts and accidentally shrunk them in the dryer so they were a no go. I wasn't about to buy anything else to wear for my aunt's event so I just opted to give these houndstooth shorts a try. In the end I paired the shorts with a cute purple blouse that I got from Sears (Yes Sears!) last year, printed tights, and my wedge booties that are from Target. I think the outfit came out cute! What do ya'll think?

they were so big that they wouldn't stay "high waisted" lol

Later on that night I went out to a bar/lounge with two of my friends. While looking for something to wear I ran across this blue H&M skirt. I've had the skirt for over a year but never wore it because I felt it was too short for my liking since my thighs are so big. I thought that Saturday night would be the perfect time to pull the skirt out and pair it with some tights, a simple t-shirt, and my oxblood blazer. I added minimum accessories and flat black boots because I was going for a casual, comfortable, and cute look. How did I do?

Slight Thrifting

Hey Ya'll!!!

What a great day today has been!!!!! I've literally been watching CNN since like 7 this morning. I watched all the inauguration festivities and today it felt good to be a US citizen! #TeamObama!!!!

I did slip out for a little bit to hit up the Goodwill. I have a function to go to this Saturday and an outfit came to me. I wanted to wear some high-waist shorts with some tights. When I'm looking for something in particular but don't feel like spending a lot of money I always hit up my local Goodwill store. To my surprise I found two pairs of high-waisted shorts. I couldn't decide on which pair I wanted and I didn't feel like trying them on ( I really don't like trying on clothes at the Goodwill) so I just brought both. Heck, they were only $3.99 each LoL. I found some other great finds that I decided to buy also. Below are the items I brought.

Houndstooth, size 16: They were to big so I gave them to my mother. Very cute tho!

size 14: perfect fit. Had to hem them a little bit to make them shorter. I will be wearing these this Saturday!!

Jones New York, size 6: You see the color...oxblood!!! I had to have it and its the perfect fit

Mossimo, size 10: $5 baby!!! I'm sure I'll find some good use for them

Natural Hair Update

Hey Ya'll!

The new year has started off good for me. I'm planning my wedding, still trying to lose weight, and I'm working on getting my hair on the right track. I can't wait to see what else 2013 has in store for me.

This post is about my hair. I'm so loving my hair right now. Since the New Year I have been putting TLC into my hair. I've been neglecting it and the outcome was that my hair was not as healthy as it should've been. Being natural can be a real struggle so now I'm co-washing/washing it on the regular, deep conditioning, detangling, and wearing less weave. I've noticed that my hair has been more moisturized and that my curl pattern has been really defined. I have heavily fallen in love with argon oil and Jamaican black castor oil.

Twisting my hair EVERY night can get tiring so in the next month or so I will be including more protective styles into my hair routine such as Havana twist, 2 strand twist styles, braids, and other cute natural hair protective styles. It's nothing like waking up in the morning and getting ready for work without having to worry about your hair.

Also, I'm working on my edges. As you all know I have very thin edges. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by them but I do want them to grow back lol. I have started this routine on January 6th of rubbing the Jamaican black castor oil on my edges every morning and every night. I have already noticed that my edges are starting to fill in. I give it about another month or so before they have fully grown in..hopefully! We'll see I guess.

Thanks for readying and stay tuned for more natural hair updates. Byeee!!

The first 3 pics below were taken about 3 days ago. My hair was just right that day
